Deon from The Scatterlings invites all riders to join in an outride visiting local attractions on the public holiday, Friday 27 April. This is a free outride for off-road bikes but road bikes welcome (they may need to take a few deviations)
We will meet in front of Osner Hotel at 8:30 , leave for Kei Mouth at 9. Our first stop is at the photogenic Morgan Bay Cliffs. These impressive slabs of dolerite, which drop some 50 metres into the pounding surf, are an ideal vantage point. If you’re lucky, you may even see the dolphins frolicking in the waves which crash against the rocks below.
Then we follow a scenic route of beaches and cliffs to Kei Mouth. We will cross the pont and head down to either the Seagulls Hotel or the Bush Pig in Kei Mouth for lunch.
The Morganville Motorcycle Museum
On the way back we will stop off at Billy Nels private bike museum.
Billy Nel is a self-confessed hoarder and anyone who has had the opportunity to view his personal collection of historic motorbikes, cars and many other antiques is ever grateful for his passion for preserving historic items.
The Museum houses over 600 motorcycles including a very rare Yamaha GTS100A however, the highlight of the collection is no doubt the Convair 800 passenger Jet, of which there are only two left in their original state. The one here and the other belonging to the late Elvis Presley named, The Lisa Marie which is parked at Graceland. The Jet was once the personal transport of the stars such as Barbara Streisand, the Rolling Stones, John Denver and The Who.
